A circle of Canadians in moments of injury and recovery: drivers, workers, passengers and the people who help them heal
Welcome to

The Square

A place for Canadians hurt in an accident, or on the job, to be heard.

You are the only person who was there for all of it. Hurt Square gives you somewhere to put it while it is still clear.

A clear record is a quiet kind of power. Months from now, you will not have to tell your story from memory. You will show it, in your own words, written as it happens.

The two National Recovery Guides

For anyone hurt in Canada, on the road or on the job. Document your health, your treatment and every claim conversation, page by page.

In the months after an accident, memory fades while the questions pile up. A clear, dated record of your symptoms, your appointments and what you were told is often what separates a claim that is believed from one that is doubted. They keep all of that in your own words, from the very first day.

Welcome to Hurt Square

A place where your voice belongs.

Hurt Square, Built for Injured People

Every town worth its name has a square: a place where people gather to be heard, where private suffering becomes public record and where the institutions that surround everyday life can no longer pretend not to listen.

Canadians hurt in a car accident, or on the job, have never had one. Until now.

What we want you to know

Three things before anything else.

You matter.

What happened to you matters, and so does how you feel about it. All of it.

Your feelings are valid.

Every one of them. The fear, the anger, the exhaustion, the grief. None of that needs to be explained or justified.

You have the right to be heard.

To ask questions. To disagree with your adjuster, your case manager, your doctor. To keep your own record, in your own words.

The Square

You are not alone in this.

The Square is where Canadians hurt in an accident, or on the job, share what they are going through. Come read what others have written or be heard yourself.

For commercial drivers

You will drive again. What you document today decides how soon.

For a professional driver, the road back is never only about healing. It is about your medical card, your safety record and getting back behind the wheel when you are ready. The National Commercial Drivers Guide helps you keep all of it in one calm place, so nothing about your livelihood slips away while you focus on getting well.

If a vehicle or a workplace accident changed your day, this is for you.

Drivers

At fault, partly or not at all. Your recovery still counts and still needs documenting.

Passengers & pedestrians

You don't need to have been behind the wheel to be hurt by one. You have rights too.

Workers

Hurt on the job? You were doing your job. There is a full set of workplace guides for you.

Families & caregivers

Documenting for someone else? There is room here to protect their voice too.

Starting late

Weeks or months out? You are not behind. You are right on time. There is a place to begin.

Anyone over 16

Anyone with a licence can have an accident. So can a child in a back seat or someone simply crossing the street.

How it works

One companion, built for the whole journey.

When you are ready, not a moment before, here is how we help. You don't have to remember everything. You only have to write it down. We will show you where.

1

Start with your National Recovery Guide.

The National MVA Recovery Guide after a crash, the National Workplace Injury Recovery Guide after an injury at work. Usable anywhere in Canada.

2

Add your Provincial Companion Guide.

The MVA Companion Guide or Workplace Injury Companion Guide for the province where it happened. Your insurer or board, your forms, your deadlines and your rights, all in plain language.

3

Document as you go.

Every appointment, every call, every hard day and better day. Captured, organized and ready when you need to be heard.

A quiet Canadian road, the view that inspired Hurt Square
Why Hurt Square exists

Born on the road.

For two years, I drove people to and from their medical appointments after their motor vehicle accidents. I heard the same thing again and again: "I don't feel like anyone is listening to me."

They were exhausted, in pain and expected to track appointments, fill out forms, meet deadlines they were never told about and prove over and over that what happened to them was real. Hurt Square is the answer I wished I could have handed every one of them.

Good to know

The questions people ask first.

Will insurers, lawyers and doctors take this seriously?
Yes. Your guide is your own clear, dated record of what happened and how you are healing. It supports your file and your conversations rather than replacing official forms. A record kept steadily, from the first day, carries weight because it shows consistency over time.
Is this legal or medical advice?
No. Your guide is a documentation companion that helps you stay organized and remember the details that matter. For decisions about your treatment or your claim, speak with your clinician or your lawyer.
Are my records private?
Yes. What you write is yours. You keep your own copy, on your device or in print, and you decide who sees it and when.
Is it printable or only digital?
Both. Your guide is delivered digitally, and you can write in it on your device or print the pages you want to fill in by hand. Use whichever feels easier on a hard day.
Do I need the Companion Guide too?
Either National Recovery Guide works anywhere in Canada. Your provincial Companion Guide adds the specific rules, benefits and deadlines for the province where you were hurt, even if you live somewhere else. Many people keep both side by side.

Your privacy

Your records stay yours.

You are writing down sensitive things during a hard time. That information belongs to you, and we treat it that way.

Yours to keep

Your records live with you, on your own device or in print. You hold the copy.

Yours to share

You decide who sees your record, whether that is a doctor, a lawyer or no one at all.

Never sold

We do not sell or trade your personal information. Full stop.
